About Me

My Background

I was inspired to become a speech and language therapist by my parents. My father has a stammer and my mother has Multiple Sclerosis. Their experiences gave me a personal insight into communication differences and challenges.

After graduating from Birmingham City University in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy, I worked for 8 years in the NHS across Hertfordshire, East Surrey, and West Sussex. I gained experience in clinics, schools and developed a specialist focus in supporting children who stammer, eventually becoming the stammering lead in East Surrey.

In 2016, I founded That Speech Lady, an independent therapy practice that allows me to work in a flexible and tailored way. I dedicated time to further stammering training (including working with adults who stammer) and I was honoured to be part of Gareth Gates’ Stammer School in 2018.

I continue to dedicate my time to supporting children and adults who stammer and advocating for greater acceptance of stammered voices in society. I also have a small caseload supporting children and young people who have a range of speech, language and communication needs.
